Sloth Chapter 9: “I Must Be Dreaming”

For at least two books in the Love is Cure series, readers have been eagerly awaiting Eryn Peters’ story. She’s danced around conversations about her past relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Simeon, for long enough. In Chapter 9 of Sloth, the very thing Eryn vowed to avoid happens—she reunites with her first love, the man she believes broke her heart. It’s one of the most memorable reunions in my book world.

Inside the Character: Getting to Know Zane Armstrong from Twice in Love

Readers loved Zane Armstrong from scene one. His patience stood out immediately, followed by his unwavering, devoted love for his wife, Desiree. After her near-tragic car accident left her without any memory of him, Zane didn’t feel defeated—he rose to the challenge. Through heartfelt efforts, he guided them both down memory lane, recreating their cherished moments and taking readers along for the emotional ride. Though Zane and Desiree’s story in Twice in Love is short, it’s undeniably sweet.

Let’s get to know Zane, the man who stole hearts from the very beginning, more intimately.

Character Q&A: Eva Gordon

It’s a chilly evening in Rochester, New York, and Eva Gordon, wife to basketball star Jaleel Gordon, sits comfortably in the kitchen of their family home. The sounds of the winter wind outside are muffled by the warmth of the house. As she sips her herbal tea, Eva watches her newborn daughter, safely asleep in the nursery, from the video monitor. Her eyes are soft with contentment, and there’s a quiet glow to her. She’s a mother now, and life has transformed in the most unexpected ways.

Eva’s calm demeanor suggests that she’s found peace in her busy life, which now revolves around family and balancing her flourishing yoga studio and juice bar with the demands of being a mother of two. As she settles into the conversation, she smiles warmly, a little bit tired but grateful for everything life has gifted her.

“Girl,” she said, “I can’t remember the last time I had a full night’s rest but these kids make me so happy.”

As I settled into my seat, I started our conversation from there.

Home Before Midnight Chapter 6: “Why Don’t You Call Your New Friend? Mr. Greene?”

Reconnecting with the Gordons had been on my mind from the moment I typed “The End” on their Christmas short story, Home for Christmas. I fell in love with this young couple even before I started writing, just from the outline. The way their love unfolded felt so organic, making it a joy to bring them back for their second chance romance. So when the idea of writing a New Year’s Eve story came to mind, Eva and Jaleel were the first couple I thought of. Their love is intentional—expressed through both words and actions—and Home Before Midnight showcases that beautifully, especially in chapter six.

Inside the Character: Getting to Know Jaleel Gordon from Home for Christmas and Home Before Midnight

Jaleel Gordon is a fan favorite. He’s loyal, devoted, and loves him some Eva Gordon. When we first meet him, he’s a husband and father excited to return home for the holidays. This theme continues throughout the follow-up story to the holiday short, Home for Christmas, titled Home Before Midnight. And the follow-up only made us love him more.

Let’s get to know Jaleel Gordon more intimately.

Alternate Story Ending: Cadence & Meki (A Love Deferred)

The couple that surprised me and completely stole my heart! Cadence and Meki were long overdue for an update, and I was thrilled to write one for them. It’s perfect timing too, since it was Christmas Day and being snowed in that originally brought these two together. They continue to be one of my favorite couples, and this alternate story ending just made it even more official. Enjoy!

Home for Christmas Chapter 2: “Hug, you guys!”

Home for Christmas holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite Christmas stories in my catalog, right alongside Rekindled. This story came to me completely out of the blue. As the holidays were approaching, I wanted to write something that captured all the Christmas vibes while being undeniably heartwarming. The premise? A separated couple brought together by their son, who asks for just one thing for Christmas: to celebrate the holiday with his parents under one roof. From that setup, you already know you’re in for a good time.

Inside the Character: Getting to Know Eva Gordon from Home for Christmas and Home Before Midnight

Eva Gordon is one of those characters who feels like a warm hug wrapped in a love story. She’s the definition of grace, balance, and knowing your worth, even when life throws curveballs your way. When I created Eva, I wanted her to represent the kind of love that doesn’t just exist for someone else but also for yourself. She’s deeply relatable, from her bubbly personality to her firm boundaries, and her story is one of resilience, healing, and rediscovering love on her own terms. Eva’s journey in Home for Christmas was a joy to write, and she’s a character that stays with you long after the last page.

Let’s get to know Eva Gordon more intimately.

Character Q&A: Clarke Ali

We find ourselves in Clarke’s cozy, sunlit apartment in New York City. The faint scent of red wine and the sounds of the bustling city below seep through the windows. Clarke, with her effortless style and sharp wit, has settled into a comfortable chair across from me, a glass of wine in hand. As we settle in, she reflects on her life now with Yusuf, their journey together, and what the future holds.

Clarke, wearing a fitted sweater and high-waisted jeans, grins at me as she takes a sip of her wine. “You’re lucky I’m sipping this wine instead of running after some of the crazy ideas you’re about to throw at me.”

With a warm laugh, I start the conversation.

Rekindled Chapter 6: “What are you doing here?”

Rekindled was honestly a dream come true for me to write, especially as a close proximity romance. In fact, it’s because of Rekindled that I ended up working on another close proximity story—a friends-to-lovers tale that I can’t wait to share with you soon. But back to Rekindled: this story was part of a collaboration I did with a group of amazing women during Christmas 2020. It has one chapter in particular that I absolutely love and looked forward to writing because it’s exactly where the story takes off. It’s the moment when two exes discover they’ll be spending the Christmas holiday together… under the same roof.

Inside the Character: Getting to Know Meki Knight from Unsilent Knight and A Love Deferred

Meki Knight is a reader favorite because he’s far more than what his surface suggests. When we first meet him in Unsilent Knight, Meki comes across as a bit aggy, with little patience for our FMC, Cadence. But as his character unfolds, particularly in A Love Deferred, we discover a deeper, more endearing side of him that’s impossible not to fall for. Meki is a man shaped by his past, someone who seeks love and isn’t afraid to admit it—even if it takes time.

Let’s get to know Meki more intimately.

Alternate Story Ending: Maven & Kai (Rekindled)

There’s something about Christmas and romance that just hits differently, right? Maven and Kai’s love story started with a cabin, some snow, and a not-so-accidental double booking by their friends. Fast forward, and here they are—married and back in Aspen, but this time in their very own cabin. This alternate ending gives us a glimpse into their first Christmas Eve as husband and wife, full of warmth, laughter, and the kind of love that only grows deeper over time. Let’s catch up with these two and soak in the magic of their forever love.

Chapter 7 Unsilent Knight: “I bet you never had a man make you sweat like this with your clothes still on.”

Unsilent Knight was my very first Christmas-themed short story. But let me tell you, this wasn’t your typical holiday read. It was more of a story that just happened to take place around Christmas rather than being drenched in the hallmark-style, Christmas-y vibes you might expect. And honestly, that’s why I wrote it. Unsilent Knight was meant to be a holiday side treat—a way to promote Girl Code, which was released shortly before Christmas. I even included a sneak peek of the first few chapters from Girl Code in Unsilent Knight.

So, please know, this story wasn’t supposed to become “the moment.” But somehow, Cadence and Meki stole hearts. Readers fell in love with them, demanding more—and I delivered with A Love Deferred. But before ALD, there was Unsilent Knight and this pivotal chapter that turned what was supposed to be a side story into one readers couldn’t stop talking about.

Inside the Character: Getting to Know Cadence Nice from Unsilent Knight and A Love Deferred

I’ve had some favorite characters over the years, but if you asked me which character I identified with the most, it would be Cadence. I injected a lot of myself into her character makeup. Working in IT (as I did in my twenties) and loving yoga (a practice I’ve been committed to for many years) are just a couple of our shared traits. Though we are different in many ways—especially her fear of love—Cadence mirrors me in her love for order, planning, and organizing. She’s a favorite of mine and of readers, too.

Let’s get to know Cadence Nice, now Cadence Knight, more intimately.

Character Q&A: Maven Young

In the heart of a cozy New York City studio, the hum of a freshly mixed track fills the air as Maven Young, award-winning songwriter, takes a break from her work to chat about life. The room is filled with the familiar scent of coffee and the soft glow of studio lights. Maven, now happily married to Kai Avery, sits back in a plush chair, her smile as radiant as the music she creates. From breaking up to rekindling their romance, Maven and Kai’s journey has been one for the books. As the couple settles into married life, we catch up with Maven on what’s been happening since she said “I do.”

“So, let’s get to it,” Maven said, her voice both warm and assertive, with a playful glint in her eye. “Ask away.”

Ready or Not Chapter 5: “Uh… What Are You Doing?

Ready or Not is the first book in a new series that spins off from a story that nearly took me out. Last Comes Love, the story Ready or Not branches from, was such a difficult but necessary story for me to write. It captured a friendship and showed how time can often be taken for granted. It was a story that made us all experience a loss we likely will always remember. So, when it came time to start Rylee’s journey without Lennox, I knew I had my work cut out for me. I was fully prepared for readers to refuse to believe Rylee could find love after Lennox. Much like time played a major role in Last Comes Love, it continues to be a central theme in Ready or Not—something that becomes evident the moment Rylee meets Xander.

Inside the Character: Getting to Know Kai Avery

Kai Avery is the kind of character that embodies ambition, style, and the pursuit of greatness in every sense. He’s sharp, creative, and unrelenting when it comes to achieving his goals. As one of the most driven men in my book world, Kai’s journey is about more than just success—it’s about balance, vulnerability, and finding the courage to pursue what truly matters. His charisma and undeniable talent make him unforgettable, but it’s his growth that makes him truly stand out. Whether you’re rooting for him or frustrated with him, one thing is certain: Kai leaves an impression.

Alternate Story Ending: Mykal & Desmond (Envy)

Happy Thanksgiving! For many people, gathering around a table and catching up with family is a moment to look forward to. For Mykal, it’s quite the opposite. Family dinners are never something to get excited about when it comes to Mykal, and this year is no different. Desmond, however, has a better plan in mind.

Love, Hate & Revenge Chapter 8: “Mickey, what the f**k?!”

The amount of fun I had writing the Love, Hate & Revenge series cannot be explained. These sisters were a pleasure to spend time with, and I made sure to find every way to check back in with them. To do so again might be too much, but thankfully, we get these chapter-by-chapter commentaries to relive some of the craziest moments… one of which is chapter 8 in LHR, pt. 3. This final installment in the series had a lot of conclusions and beginnings, and chapter 8 serves as one of those beginnings—despite how insane it happened. But what did we expect when it involves the infamous Mikayla and Philip?

Inside the Character: Getting to Know Desmond Ellis III

Desmond Ellis is a character who doesn’t get nearly enough attention in the Love is Cure series… but that’s just my opinion. He’s truly an amazing man—one who knows the meaning of sacrifice and embraces it wholeheartedly. Not only is he kind, but he’s also incredibly smart and altruistic. He has all the ingredients of the perfect book bae because, let’s be honest, he is the perfect book bae. Desmond came into Mykal’s life at exactly the right time because the path she was on wasn’t leading anywhere good. Everything changed the moment he “stole her job” 🤭.

Character Q&A: Rayelle Bell

In the heart of Miami, Florida, I found myself sitting in Rayelle’s pole dancing studio, a space that was as empowering as it was graceful. The soft hum of music filled the air as she moved around, tidying up between classes, effortlessly managing her business. The studio was a reflection of her—a blend of strength, femininity, and confidence.

Rayelle was dressed casually in workout gear, her long hair pulled back into a neat bun, exuding the same confidence and allure that had captured Mello’s attention. As she took a seat across from me, her eyes bright with energy, it was clear that she was more than just Mello’s wife—she was a woman who had built a life on her own terms.

They Call Me Mello Chapter 3: “… I’ll buy my drink and your next drink too”

Readers loved Romello “Mello” St. Claire so much in the No Fraternizing series that I had no choice but to give him a spinoff. The number of readers telling me that Lila better end up with Mello in part three was overwhelming. Suffice it to say, I was a little worried because that was not the plan at all, lol. Manny and Lila had history, and the love between them left no room for Mello, no matter how lovable and amazing he was. But I knew Mello had a love story out there waiting for him. And not just any woman would do—she had to be special enough to catch Mello’s attention and make him ready to commit. Chapter 3 introduces us to that woman at the exact moment Mello meets her, and it’s a scene to remember.

Inside the Character: Getting to Know Mykal Jones

Mykal Jones is a character who sparks strong opinions among readers. Many find her difficult to like, even after her transformation by the end of Envy, while others empathize with her choices, even if they don’t agree with them. One thing is certain—Mykal leaves a lasting impression. Her story is raw, unapologetic, and at times, challenging, but her growth? Absolutely top-tier.

Alternate Story Ending: Bryant & Zoe (Greed)

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of writing alternate story endings for Zoe and Bryant from Greed. They are complete opposites, which means there are endless conflicts that can arise from their differences, giving them endless opportunities to resolve those conflicts and grow. I don’t know—I feel like I need more time with them. They could use another story! Let me stop; the way my writing schedule is set up, I don’t even know if it’s feasible. So let’s enjoy this extra time with them… for now.

We witnessed them go from fake dating to getting engaged in Greed. Then, Zoe revealed she was pregnant in one of their Glimpses. And now, they are preparing for the next chapter in their journey… they’ll just need to sort out a minor “issue” along the way.

Loveless Chapter 2: “You’re Not Dressed Like A Cop”

I love a good meet cute. If the meet cute isn’t memorable, I’m not doing it! I want these moments to be unforgettable, the kind where, if the characters were real and aging like fine wine, they’d be telling this story to friends who lean in every time, ready to hear it for the fifty-leven time. Joi and Jeremiah’s meet cute in Loveless is one of my personal favorites. Getting pulled over by your future husband for speeding just has that little something special. And in their case, it really sets the tone.

Inside the Character: Getting to Know Zoe Stewart

Zoe Stewart is a series favorite, and for good reason. She’s down to earth, easygoing, and tells it like it is—even if her honesty might be taken the wrong way at first. Zoe values her relationships deeply and comes across as an incredibly relatable character on the page. There isn’t a single negative thing we can say about Zoe. She embodies the virtue of all virtues and was influential enough to spearhead the development of a new town that will set the stage for the next era in my book world.

Let’s get to know Zoe, now Mrs. Greene, a bit more intimately.

Character Q&A: Xander Cox

On a sunny afternoon in Brooklyn, New York, I found myself in the bustling firehouse where Xander Cox worked as a firefighter. The space was alive with energy, filled with the sounds of laughter and camaraderie among the crew. The walls were adorned with memorabilia and photographs, showcasing the proud history of the firehouse and the brave men and women who served there.

Xander stood by the kitchen area, wearing his uniform, looking both relaxed and ready for action. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, mingling with the faint scent of smoke from a recent call. As the crew wrapped up their duties, Xander’s warm smile hinted at his excitement to talk about his budding relationship with Rylee. A relationship that will be explored soon.

As we settled into the inviting break room, surrounded by the spirit of teamwork and resilience, I could feel the anticipation in the air. This was not just a conversation about work; it was about the hopeful new chapter in Xander’s life with Rylee.

Last Comes Love Chapter 10: “I’m Pregnant!”

Chapter ten in Last Comes Love is a pivotal moment, one that shifts the story from “just friends” to something much deeper. Rylee and Lennox have done the one thing they thought they’d never do together—sleep together to make a baby. While they both felt something that night, they’re still in denial, wasting time they don’t realize is in short supply. This chapter, the third in Part Two: Next Comes, is a key transition. To move forward, Rylee and Lennox have to break the news to their families that they’re having a baby, and the reveal is everything you’d expect when two lifelong friends share this kind of news with their parents.

Inside The Character: Getting to Know Rylee Daniels

Rylee Daniels is one of my favorite characters, if not my favorite, that I’ve created thus far. I don’t shy away from saying that because it’s true. I love all of my characters, but Rylee is a standout. She’s strong without realizing it, brave despite her uncertainty about where life is taking her, yet willing to go along for the ride. She stole my heart as just an idea, but when I developed her character, I fell in love with her as an individual trying to make it in the game of life. Her friendship with Lennox was one I loved exploring, and her future in my book world is a bright one.

No Fraternizing, Pt. 3 Chapter 8: “… A Mutual Interest In A Business.”

The No Fraternizing series was my first completed series, and Part 1 was my very first self-published story. When I first published No Fraternizing, Pt. 1, I didn’t know what I was doing. It started as a short story with no plans to make it a series. But after readers loved it and wanted more, it grew into a full series, giving us one of my favorite chapters. By the final book, things had changed a lot since the start. Feelings and emotions are at a boiling point, especially in Chapter 8, where we find ourselves caught in the heat of a love triangle.

Inside the Character: Getting to Know Bryant Greene

Bryant Greene was a character I liked the moment I created his character summary. Besides being good friends with one of my favorite characters—Lennox Walker—Bryant’s journey to success was impressive. Now, greed is the vice I’m no fan of. I can’t take it when someone with so much still wants more, especially when that “more” means taking from people who have far less. But Bryant and his greedy ways didn’t completely turn me off. His growth in book three of the Love is Cure series was fun to write and even better to read.

I think this might be my favorite alternate ending so far. Clarke and Yusuf were a favorite for many of my reader and for good reason. This alternate ending will lead into a very important scene in a future story of mine, and you’re among the few who will know the root of Clarke and Yusuf’s growth as a couple… right here in this alternate ending. Gluttony Chapter 14: “Get your disrespectful ass back in here and on this f**king mat!”

Gluttony was one of the stories in the series that made me a little nervous before I started writing. The title isn’t exactly sexy, and Gluttony as a sin is often viewed in a very one-dimensional way. But once I got into it, the characters made the story a lot of fun. Everett and Apryl, the MMC and FMC of Gluttony, were attracted to each other the moment they saw one another. But when they were finally thrown together in Chapter 14, things got heated, and the clash of two alpha personalities gave us a chapter to remember.

Inside The Character: Getting to Know Leelah Waters from Lust

Leelah Waters was our second virtue in the Love is Cure universe, and her personality is one that a lot of readers loved, myself included. She mastered the balance between her soft side and her firm, more authoritative side, creating a dynamic that Pryce Williams couldn’t wait to return to. Leelah is one of the virtues who can relate to the vice she’s paired with because, at one point in her life, she was caught up in that same vice. Some readers felt she made Pryce work too hard to earn her affections back, while others thought she didn’t make him work hard enough! Personally, I think she handled everything with the perfect amount of grace, bringing both her and her high school sweetheart to a conclusion they could enjoy and heal from—together.

Let’s get to know our girl Leelah a little more intimately.
