Desiree & Zane, Zane & Desiree. Whatever order you arrange these two in, their story will be beautiful all the same.
If you read the story in KU and would like to own a copy, now is the time to do it. Remember to leave a review when you’re done 😘.
Desiree met Zane the evening of Independence Day at Brooklyn’s Coney Island. On Christmas Eve that same year, Zane brought her back there to ask her to be his wife. Two months later they exchanged vows. Then ten months after that she forgot it all… including Zane. Before they met, Desiree never thought she could fall in love with a man she barely knew. Can she do it again?

Yesterday, I sent out an email to my BK Insiders List subscribers about an exclusive free short story I was sending their way. If you are familiar with my writing, you know that writing and posting short stories at no charge is something I do often. As I’ve explained on my blog where most of my short stories go, writing shorts helps me exercise my writing muscle, a.k.a. my brain. It also helps with taking a break from writing my novellas since writing a book can be taxing.
I don’t get any money from my blog. I don’t host ads for a reason because it really is a place where I can post freely and creatively. And I don’t sell my books here… yet.
I love getting feedback from readers who have read my books. Having you guys be involved in the process makes creating all the more exciting, so…. I’m doing it yet again. But this time with one of my free reads that’s sent to BK Insiders when they join my club.
What’s it like looking for love in a hook-up culture? This was the question I asked myself while being nosy. I was sitting next to a 20-something woman when she received a text that simply read, “wyd.” I wasn’t trying to look and my eyesight sucks, so I’m not even sure how I was able to read that, but I did lol. My eyes just literally went there on their own ??♀️, I promise. Anyway she rolled her eyes at the message and put her phone away and from her reaction I was inspired to write a story. I’m not sure if she ever responded. I don’t even know if the text came from someone she’s been intimate with. But the idea for the story came to mind and here is the result. I’ve had this photo saved in my photo inspo stash and thought it was perfect to build on the story I had. I wrote this during that bus ride and forced myself to only edit it twice. I’m a serial perfectionist so the latter is a struggle for me, but I write these stories with no outline, zero character development, and less editing to challenge myself… but I digress.
This month, I have a couple more stories publishing. All with a different take on love. I’m in the minority who believes there isn’t a right or wrong way to fall in love. I do think we can find it in ways that makes us happy and not base our choices on what others feel is right or acceptable. And this story illustrates that. Let me know what you think!
I got inspired by a photo the other day so I’m back with a new short story lol. I’ve been spending a lot of time working on one of my final books for 2017, “Mr & Mrs. Jones,” the sequel to my novella “Girl Code.” In both stories, one of the characters, Amir, is always talking about how another character, Melodee, is his muse. So, this was also one of the inspirations behind the title of this short.
I wrote this short in a few hours and self-edited it in one day. I forced myself not to edit it for longer just to keep to my own challenge of producing a story that’s raw and less than perfect. I’m one of those writers who prefers to organize everything. Flesh out characters and plots. Research and outline details before I even sit in front of a blank page. So, I use my short stories to step out of my comfort zone and to make things up on the fly. And here is the product of that.
As always, I wanted to challenge myself and try something different, so vibe with me on this ?
Although I’m always down for great dialogue (I think I’m pretty comfortable writing dialogue), I prefer writing descriptions in my stories. I find that descriptions anchor readers in a scene and makes them see what the writer sees, offering a damn good mind movie.
It’s a preference and we as writers are all different. But I wanted to see if I could carry the fire of a story with more dialogue than usual so… I came up with this story concept inspired by this Reese Royce photo… I LOVE his drawings as I’m sure you’ve realized.
Anyway, in the dawn of FaceTime and Skype, I wanted to force my characters to use their words and their imaginations ?.
Back with another one but this one is a little different from the others. I tried a different writing style and technique. I wanted to challenge myself, switching between past and present, using the same words but in different ways to move the story along without losing you as the reader. I like to use these short stories as a way to train my writing muscle… a.k.a. my brain lol. Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think. As always, this is explicit so read if you ’bout it ?.
It’s been 2-years since I self-published my first story on Amazon, No Fraternizing, PT. 1. This story was never supposed to be a series. It was supposed to be a short novella that brought readers into a different world of characters with a different story concept.
When I saw this drawing, this story just poured out of me. Wrote it in two hours using the Office OneNote app on my iphone in a Starbucks. As always, it’s explicit and may make the shy reader or the strict idealist uncomfortable.
Hold up! There’s a part 1and part 2to this. Read those first before continuing.
Here it is! Part 3 and the conclusion to my blog’s erotic series, “Pay Me In…” I kind of broke my own rule. This was written in 32-hours instead of 24-hours and it is a little over 5k words long. But I couldn’t cut it short so…
As always, this has been lightly edited and contains… aw, you should already know. Thanks for reading this far ?. Let me know what you thought about the story in the comments! ?
Hold up! There’s a part 1 to this. Make sure you read it first (Click Here To Read Now!) before continuing to read this ;-). If you’ve read it and you’re all caught up, carry on… Just as the first one, this story was written in 24-hours, contains explicit content, and has been lightly edited by me.
I was on Pinterest a week ago, pinning and minding my business when I stumbled on the photo below. If you’re on Facebook, you’ll remember how the trending hashtag #shortstorychallenge came to life with people using the photos from the artist to create their own stories.
I didn’t participate then because I’m a little bit of a literary rebel who likes to avoid what everyone else is doing. Not to be difficult, it’s just the way I am. But when I saw this photo right here, the characters just wouldn’t shut up. I wrote this short story in less than 24-hours. I wanted to challenge myself to write a piece without planning or outlining anything. There’s some light editing. So, there may be some typos.
Now, I shouldn’t have to tell you what to expect. But if you’re unfamiliar with Brookelyn Mosley and what I do with a pen, please read this post before continuing. My writing isn’t too, too explicit but it isn’t sweet and subliminal either when it comes to my scenes. I’m right in the middle where I like it *wink.* Go on, read it. And let me know what you think by paying me in comments, likes and shares! ?
