Alternate Story Ending: August and Genesis (Meant to Be)

August and Genesis are a couple who truly deserve their happily ever after. One of the things I love about Brookelynite Daily is the chance to offer my characters their happy endings not just once, but twice. After everything they’ve been through, they certainly deserve it. I’m excited to catch up with them again soon. For now, I hope this alternate ending brings you as much joy as it brought me while writing it!

Let’s Talk Eryn’s Disdain for New York City and Simeon

When Eryn made her debut in Gluttony, dodging her brother’s questions about her ex and her disdain for their hometown, New York City, readers immediately wanted to know more about Everett’s elusive baby sister. Eryn is a character who fascinated me from the start. I’ve never dealt with a character who hated my hometown with such passion, especially someone who lived there for most of her life. That made her a character I couldn’t wait to explore.

Why Eryn Hates New York: A Deep-Seated Resentment

Eryn hates New York. There’s no way around it, and she doesn’t keep it a secret. She goes into great detail about why she hates it and even takes us back to the day that hate began. Her loathing of NYC is a major part of why she didn’t return after leaving almost a decade before her story in Sloth begins. Eryn has always been drawn to the idea of moving to California, especially during her last year of college when she realized her dream agency was out west. But her need to stay in California and never set foot in New York’s concrete jungle again creates a significant obstacle for her. Beyond the memories the city holds, it’s also where she experienced many firsts—falling in love and experiencing heartbreak. The place she’s vowed never to return to is the very place she must revisit to heal and move beyond the pains of her past. Writing her return to the place she hates and capturing her thoughts on the city I love so much was a challenge I embraced.

When Life Gives You Sunsets Chapter 7: “I Just Saw Your D**k”

When it was time to work on the summer romance idea that had been on my mind since the year before When Life Gives You Sunsets was released, I knew I wanted the elements to be unmistakably summery. Sun, sand, fruity cocktails, and a group trip were where my mind went first. Hawaii, a destination I love writing about, was a no-brainer for a summer romance that feels like summer the moment the plane lands. A waterfall was always part of the plan, but the scene couldn’t just be about the waterfall. And in Chapter 7, it wasn’t.

Inside the Character: Getting to Know Yusuf Baldwin from When Life Gives You Sunsets

Yusuf Baldwin is part of my new school of book baes who have waltzed onto my pages and stolen my heart without apology. Simply by being his amazing and vulnerable self, Yusuf is truly a character readers couldn’t help but love and feel for.

My heart ached as I wrote his story. By every sense of the word, Yusuf did everything right, yet his life didn’t seem to reflect that. And not once did he hold back on the page, letting his feelings, his hurt, and eventually his healing shine through.

We know Yusuf well, but let’s get to know him even better.

Despite all her efforts to avoid drama, the heart wants what the heart wants, and Esme’s heart has found its match! And yes, you can expect some fun updates from Clarke and Juliette along the way.

I’m so excited for you to join Esme on this journey. Check out the synopsis below and get ready to fall in love with these characters:

The Power of Forgiveness in Rekindling Love in Sloth

A second chance romance is a story that brings exes back together, giving them another shot at a love once lost. This theme is central in Sloth, the seventh book in the Love is Cure, Vol. 1 – Vices & Virtues series. In life and in Sloth, one of the key elements of second chances in love is forgiveness. For the main characters, unresolved feelings and past mistakes make forgiveness crucial to their second chance. Their love is one neither has been able to let go of, leaving a void in their hearts that has persisted through their twenties and most of their thirties. Despite living seemingly decent lives, no matter how many people they date, their hearts have always wanted each other.

Character Q&A: Eryn Peters

On a sunny afternoon in a chic coffee house, Eryn Peters settled into a plush armchair upholstered in soft velvet. The ambiance was sophisticated yet relaxed, with elegant wooden tables holding mugs of coffee adorned with intricate designs that seemed to float on the surface of the lattes and cappuccinos. The rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, mingling with the subtle notes of jazz playing softly in the background.

Eryn wore a fashionable, laid-back outfit that perfectly balanced comfort with style: a flowing, light blouse tucked into high-waisted, wide-leg trousers, paired with block-heeled mules that clicked softly against the wooden floor as she moved. Her long hair was styled sleek and straight, cascading down her back in a glossy finish.

“I’m gonna keep it real with you, B,” Eryn began with a smile, her eyes glinting with a mix of warmth and defiance, “the only reason I agreed to this Q&A was because of this beautiful coffee house. I never turn down coffee, especially when it comes with such a dope presentation.”

The scene was as serene as it was stylish, perfectly reflecting Eryn’s poised yet complex personality. Getting her to agree to sit down and chat wasn’t easy. Mentioning Simeon, however, seemed to trigger a strong reaction from Eryn, which was intriguing given her impending reunion with him, though she wasn’t aware of it. As she sipped her coffee, the conversation shifted to her past and her emotions, leaving a lingering sense of intrigue about her story.
