It’s no secret at this point. Ayla Franklin (née Samuels) has a special place in my heart. Her story came to me in a dream, and once I fleshed her character out, she stuck with me from that moment forward. Writing her story with her now-husband Hassani was such a breeze. It felt like being transported into their world, committed to getting them to their happily ever after… and to keep them there. We literally watched Ayla grow on the page, and her evolution pays off in the spinoff to My First, My Last—My Only.
