2023 In Review – The Year I Moved In Faith

It feels like I was writing a 2022 year in review just yesterday.

This year started off with me running on a ground that felt like it was already in motion and it’s kind of ending the same. I have been working all year, and I am not exaggerating. Home has been busy and so have my writing and creative projects. There has been very little time for rest, and you know what? I’m not complaining! This was apparently the season for me to work and build sturdy foundations. A season for many storms to hit, too, and to clear what no longer served me out. But nothing compares to the amount of work and building I had to do in faith.

The challenges worked my faith this year to the brink. The biggest lesson I learned firsthand was that faith isn’t faith when I can only have faith when everything is perfect. I maintained genuine faith even through the storm. When uncertainty was at an all-time high and I still had to take leaps with only the security of that faith. Because troubled waters produce skilled sailors. When they must steer the ship back to safety. And that was the theme for me.

From book events to book releases, I had to have faith in it all this year. I didn’t know how I would do any of it with a lot of the challenges that presented themselves in our family business (outside of writing) in 2023. But through it all, events were attended. I met the readers who have been supporting me from a book or many books ago, along with brand new readers who had never heard of me. I connected with authors I’ve only dialogued with online. And most of all, I learned that I’m stronger and more resilient than I originally believed. I shocked my damn self this year!

This year was one of the most challenging years of my life, but honestly… it was one of the best years of my life too! Those challenges obliterated my fears and built courage and clarity. The growth I experienced. The way my prayers changed. I learned how to really pray this year, chile. I stopped praying for outcomes and started praying for traits of excellence to get me through the storms that will always be there, ebbing and flowing with life. 2023 was a necessary chapter in my life, both creatively and spiritually. And I wouldn’t have changed anything. So while I’m walking into 2024, a little scuffed and needing a good nap, I’m ready for the elevation because all I see is up from here.

Thank you for taking the journey with me this year. I look forward to heading into this next chapter, and I’m excited to see what unfolds.
