With this month’s theme being all about the very first time the FMC and MMC see each other (or reunite) in their story, I had a lot of stories to choose from. The very first sight of each other—the meet-cute—is, to me, like the moment we see Morris Chestnut for the first time in The Best Man. It’s a moment of pause. You feel it and you remember it. And I wanted to deliver that in all of my stories, especially in One Mic.
One Mic was the first of its kind for me. A series that reads like a reality show competition? Who does that? Me, lol. And to make the first look between Jaide Belair and Lucas “Lucky” Cassidy stand out took a lot of coordination and focus, and quickly became one of my favorite scenes to write.
