Character Q&A Couples Edition: Eryn & Simeon
I’m seated in one of the lounge chairs on the patio of Eryn and Simeon’s loft-style condo in Oakland, California.
Although Simeon once called this place his home and his home alone, the sight of his arm draped comfortably over his wife’s shoulder while they both periodically glance down at the baby monitor resting in Eryn’s hands tells a very different story.
When I suggest we move inside so they can be closer to their baby boy, currently asleep in his nursery, the two are quick to decline.
“Nah, it’s fine,” Eryn says first. “It’s too beautiful of a day not to catch some sun.”
“We’ll know if he wakes up with this thing,” Simeon adds, gesturing toward the monitor Eryn keeps clutched in her hands.
The comfort between them feels earned.
Not manufactured.
Not performed.
Just familiar.
Easy.
And it’s there that I decide to begin.
