Archetype Deep Dive: Wesley Bishop

Wesley Bishop is definitely a favorite of mine from our newsletter serialized romances. I don’t know why, but I tend to gravitate toward the difficult characters. I think it’s because you can so clearly see their transformation on the page, especially when they keep their hearts shielded behind armor so tough that it only falls at the feet of the one person worthy enough to have it.

Wes isn’t the easiest person to read. He comes across one way, but that’s often to throw you off the scent of who he really is.

Deep down, he keeps a secret that would surprise the few people he allows close enough to know him. Everything he does is strategic. Every decision is calculated. Every move is designed to conceal the parts of himself he believes others could use against him. He appears guarded, but in truth, he’s calculated. He isn’t someone who simply thinks several moves ahead. He starts with the end in mind… except when it comes to matters of the heart.
