4 Quick Facts About When Luke Met Juliette

My next book release When Luke Met Juliette will go live next week, April 7th! I’m so excited for you all to read this book. I was standing in my kitchen waiting for my coffee to finish brewing when I thought to myself, “I wonder what number book When Luke Met Juliette will be?”

I’ve stopped counting after Last Comes Love, it feels. Ever since then, I’ve I’d checked in on the number, but I rarely remember what number I was up to.

#35.

We’re officially at story number #35, making it a milestone for me. And if there was a story that should serve as a milestone on my self-publishing journey is HAS to be When Luke Met Juliette.

When Luke Met Juliette is a culmination of everything I’ve learned about storytelling and what I discovered on my own just doing it. I am sincerely in love with this story and the breadth of these characters and their character arcs.

There’s so much I want to say about this story but I want for some of you to read it first so I can talk with you and not atyou lol.

With that said, there are some quick facts I can share about When Luke Met Juliette that I think you’d find interesting. Some of these will be facts you’ve heard me mention before, other facts you expect from my stories, but here they are anyway.

4 Quick Facts about When Luke Met Juliette.

It’s An Enemies-to-Lovers Story

I asked my Facebook friends, including members of my Brookelynites Book Lounge Facebook Group, what tropes they were interested in seeing in 2023 last year, and a few mentioned enemies-to-lovers. I’ve wanted to work on an enemies-to-lovers story for a minute now, but I just couldn’t come up with an exciting idea that I would be interested in working on. There’s a certain dance between characters in an enemies-to-lover who finds one another attractive but has tried to convince themselves they hate each other. Heavy on the “tried.” I’m a huge fan of that dance, second to friends-to-lovers, so the moment I developed the idea for When Luke Met Juliette, I couldn’t stop working on it until it was done. I enjoyed writing it that much.

It’s A Black Romance Novel

If you know me, you knew it would be a black romance. The novel part surprised me. I had every intention of making WLMJ a novella, but there was so much more story to tell that was just too decadent to leave out. When I say this is a black romance, I mean it. From the prologue, you know what’s up. And even though it takes a turn for rocky waters, it is rocky waters you will gladly hold your breath to swim through.

WLMJ Involves Former School Rivals

University culture has become something I’ve fallen head over heels in love with. The few stories I’ve created storylines for that included university settings have always been interesting to me. But with When Luke Met Juliette, I am positive it is my new favorite thing to not only write, but to read too. While most of the story is based in present day, there are still some dips into the past when Luke and Juliette attended rivaling universities. Their rivalry, at least I think, is an interesting take to an enemies-to-lovers love story.

Based in New York

Of course. New York will often be the unofficial character in my stories and Juliette is the biggest fan of New York you’ll ever meet… New York City, that is. In the story, if you don’t know the difference, she will explain.

These are just 4 quick facts about When Luke Met Juliette, but there is so much more to learn about this story. And soon you’ll find out.
