Character Q&A w/ Dr. Liz: Everett Peters
I sit in one of the armchairs that has been pushed to the side and out of view… for good reason. I’m not conducting this Q&A or any of the Q&As this month. Dr. Liz Peters is taking the helm, and something tells me we are in excellent hands. Her first client isn’t a client at all. It’s her son, Everett Peters. Her eldest child, who sits relaxed and aware, long legs outstretched in front of him as he smiles at his mother.
We’re in her practice, a beautifully designed basement office with pill-shaped windows, greenery in every corner, and the soft sound of a tiny waterfall just behind her desk. She sits in an armchair opposite her son, her salt-and-pepper curls gathered at the top of her head like a stunning crown. She isn’t dressed professionally. Dr. Liz is dressed like she’s home, hanging with her son… which she is.
“So this is what it’s like to be in the hot seat,” he jokes, his mother giving into the laugh he’s intentionally pulled out of her.
“I wouldn’t call it a hot seat, love,” she says, shaking her head. “More like a massage chair.”
Everett snorts a laugh. “Well, let’s get comfortable then, I guess. How do we start this?”
“We just do,” Liz says, crossing her legs. “A regular conversation between me and you… like always.”
