Character Q&A: Clarke & Yusuf

I meet Clarke and Yusuf inside Terminal 4 at JFK Airport, just a short walk from their departure gate. The terminal hums with the familiar rhythm of travel… rolling suitcases, boarding announcements echoing overhead, children darting between waiting families, and travelers stealing quiet moments over coffee before long flights.

Beside them sits a pair of carry-on suitcases, neatly packed for a trip that means far more than a vacation.

It’s a return to the place where their story began.

Clarke catches me looking toward the gate and smiles, barely able to contain her excitement.

“We’re considering a destination wedding,” she says, her engagement ring catching the light as she gestures. “I’m praying we love the place we found online.”

“I know we will.” Yusuf nods confidently. “It’s Hawaii. That island never misses.”

A boarding announcement crackles over the speakers, letting passengers know they’ll begin boarding soon.
