My First, My Last Chapter 11: “Were you trying to kiss me just now?”
Chapter 11 in My First, My Last, which appropriately lives in part two of the novel titled Set, is the chapter that shifted Ayla and Hassani’s friendship into something more. Some would say it was what happened a couple of chapters later, but this is where we can point to the catalyst for that change. It was the night Ayla asked Hassani to be her first so she wouldn’t have to start college as a virgin. Given the events that happened in earlier chapters, including the loss of her father, paired with witnessing how love seemed to change the women around her, Ayla wanted to be in control. And the way to do that was by asking Hassani to do her this one little favor. Except it wasn’t a little ask, and what we got was the chapter that planted the first seed for Ayla and Hassani to become more than just friends.
