Character Q&A: Pryce Williams

We’re inside trainer-to-the-stars, Meki Knight’s MK’s Sports Lounge and Gym, one of the most exclusive fitness spaces in New York City. From the outside, the entrance looks almost unassuming, tucked between two upscale storefronts. But stepping through the doors reveals something entirely different.

Two expansive floors of training space stretch beneath polished lighting and sleek glass railings. State-of-the-art equipment lines the floor, athletes and members moving through their routines with focused intensity. Above it all, the upstairs sports lounge overlooks the entire gym like a private balcony, complete with leather couches, a smoothie bar, and flat screens quietly playing highlights from around the league.

The gym is Black-owned and invitation-only, a detail that gives the entire place a quiet prestige. If you’re here, it means someone wanted you here.

Pryce Williams finishes his workout downstairs before joining me in the upstairs lounge, still slightly winded but relaxed, a towel draped around his neck. He settles into one of the lounge’s deep couches, bringing the straw of his smoothie to his lips before taking a long sip.

“This is like a second home,” he says, leaning back comfortably. “Whenever I’m not traveling or doing something with my wife, Leelah… I’m here. Just chillin’.”
